Hue

Is the term that makes up a pure spectrum of colours, these are orange, blue, yellow, green, violet and red. As seen below they all make parts up of the colour wheel. These are known as pure colours because, they are the basic primary colours that we have and no other colours have been added to them. Below is an image with the hue system as a spectrum.

Saturation

This is used to describe the intensity or purity of a colour. Saturation can be used to brighten up an under exposed image or lighten up an over exposed image. If a colour is saturated at maximum would contain no grey however at minimum it would contain mostly grey. Below is an example of saturated images at all states.

Primary Colours

These are raw colours that can be made by mixing other colours, somewhat the same as hue colours. These are red, yellow and blue. Colour combinations can be made by mixing these basic colours which then these becomes secondary colours.

Secondary Colours

When primary colours are mixed then more colours on the colour spectrum are created, such as purple, green and orange. So in a sense there are a wide selection of colours used when creating colour schemes that everyone uses at some stage.

Tertiary Colours

This is thew final colour group, the main schemes can be thought as an equation, Primary + Secondary = Tertiary. There are six possible tertiary color combinations, red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet, and red-violet.Below is a digram showing the combination of the tertiary spectrum.
