User Testing

To carry out user testing a questionnaire has been created that questioned participants on how difficult or easy certain aspects were to do on the website. Within a scale of one being the easiest 5 being difficult. This will then highlight any issues that could be resolved or improved. Also each user was asked to write what they thought could be improved and what they liked about the website.

Selections of three completely different users have been given the questionnaire, to enable a variety of results.

From the first user the results were average understood the majority of aspects to do, feedback was that a list of chocolate types could be added. Now a drop down menu has been added so that users can select a different chocolate type. The second user understood the purpose and could use it again scoring highly, so in terms of usability the website has proved to do well. The feedback given was that the website looked good and no further comments on how could be improved.

The final user specified that they could not change the quantity within the checkout. So this has been changed to a drop down menu. Again it is mocked – up but it shows how the process would work.

They also suggested that the chocolate bar creation process could be made easier by allowing customers to select one option more than once in the menu bar and by being able to cancel a selected option. However as the drag and drop API is limited this is not possible however it is useful feedback for future development.

The sample questionnaire:

Please could you rate the following question on a scale of 1 – 5?
1 being the easiest to 5 being difficult.

1. How easy was it for you to find your way around the website?

2. Did you understand the purpose of the website?

3. Was the text easy to read throughout the website?

4. Was it straightforward for you to interact with the creation of the chocolate bar or did you have difficulties?

5. Would you say the colours were easy to see in relation to text and backgrounds?

If you found aspects difficult could you please let me know how I could change this to make it more simplified and easier to use.
Finally could you please comment on the website overall stating what you liked about it and how you found your experience of using the website.

The feedback given from the selected users-

User 1 Sheryl Stembridge

I was unable to change type of chocolate i.e. milk or dark

Also wasn’t sure how you could just pick one topping for the full bar

I very much liked the site, very colourful & tempting!! A fun idea, list of ingredients required for nut allergies etc though

User 2 – Ashley Wright

The website looks good and no further comments on improvements

User 3 Samantha Allen

I found it very easy to understand and find my way around the website. The only aspects I found difficult to use was with creating the Chocolate bar as stated above for question four.

It could be made easier by allowing customers to select one option more than once in the menu bar and by being able to cancel a selected option.

After creating the chocolate bar and moving to the checkout I was unable to change the amount (quantity) of chocolate bars that I wanted to purchase but overall I think the website is very easy to use.

I really enjoyed looking around the website and I found it very easy to find my way around. I really liked the home page background and the gallery examples of the chocolate bars. The gallery images would make me want to place an order on this website.

I also liked the idea of the competition and how you are entered when you make a purchase. I think this would encourage more people  to buy chocolate bars. It may be worth advertising the promotions and the competition conditions on the home page as well.
